Investment Director, West Africa

Inuka is working with an investment firm dedicated to driving impactful change in emerging markets, focusing on sectors such as energy, agriculture, mobility, and water. With a mission to support businesses that foster social and economic transformation, the company has invested across Latin America, India, and Africa, with a current strategic emphasis on technology ventures that can create meaningful impact in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Responsibilities

  • Investment Sourcing: Identify Pre-Seed to Series A opportunities in technology ventures, including global tech companies entering the African market and Africa-based startups addressing regional challenges.
  • Due Diligence Leadership: Conduct comprehensive market analysis, competitive assessments, business model evaluations, and financial reviews. Assess ESG risks and opportunities and present findings to the Investment Committee.
  • Portfolio Management: Serve as a strategic partner to portfolio companies, identifying and driving post-investment value creation opportunities, supporting growth strategies, and advising on market expansion.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with founders, industry stakeholders, and co-investors to foster a robust pipeline of impactful opportunities.
  • Market Insights: Stay abreast of regional and global market trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies relevant to the firm’s investment focus areas.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience in venture capital, private equity, or related investment fields, with a focus on Africa.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sourcing, structuring, and executing early-stage investments, particularly in technology ventures.
  • Strong understanding of climate-focused transactions and impact investing principles.
  • Familiarity with the unique challenges faced by founders in emerging markets, with a proven ability to guide companies through scaling and operational challenges.
  • Deep knowledge of the African business landscape, including regulatory frameworks, market dynamics, and sector-specific opportunities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
