Head of Business Development
Inuka is working with a global renewable energy company seeking to expand its presence in Uzbekistan. As part of its growth strategy, the company is looking to hire a Head of Business Development to drive strategic initiatives, identify investment opportunities, and lead project development efforts in the region. The Head of Business Development will be responsible for executing business development activities, including identifying opportunities, conducting feasibility studies, selecting partners, allocating resources, and bidding for projects. The role also involves managing the transition of projects to the Assets team while ensuring alignment with the company's long-term strategic goals.
Responsibilities
- Guide the execution of all business development activities, including market assessment, opportunity identification, partner selection, resource allocation, project bidding, and transitioning successful bids to the Assets team.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the country strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision, mission, and long-term objectives.
- Translate strategy into actionable short-, medium-, and long-term business plans, monitoring and reporting performance to ensure targets are met.
- Oversee financial performance, manage budgets, and identify opportunities to optimize costs and revenues.
- Lead the identification of Greenfield and Brownfield business opportunities through market analysis and strategic partnerships.
- Manage the execution of complex business development activities, sourcing potential partners, and preparing competitive and compliant bids.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including off-takers, contractors, competitors, and potential partners, to create future business opportunities.
- Assess the economic viability of business opportunities using financial models, valuation analyses, cash flow projections, and return on investment assessments.
- Oversee bid preparation and participate in negotiations on pricing, terms, and conditions to secure advantageous agreements.
- Lead and manage teams, ensuring high levels of engagement, professional development, and performance management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in project development, with at least six years in a management role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field; a master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of IPPs, IWPs, and PPP structures, as well as risk transfer frameworks.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to structure bids that maximize value while minimizing risk.
- Excellent relationship management and communication skills for engaging with senior-level stakeholders, co-investment partners, technology providers, and EPC contractors.
- Strong technical, legal, and project finance knowledge.
- Proficiency in Russian is desirable.
