The opportunity
Our client is a pan-African investment banking and private capital platform seeking a senior M&A professional based in Johannesburg. The role will lead transactions across multiple sectors, with exposure to M&A, capital raising, and private capital advisory.
Responsibilities
- Lead buy-side and sell-side M&A mandates from origination through completion.
- Advise clients on valuation, financial modelling, due diligence, and transaction structure.
- Prepare investment papers, board materials, and marketing documents.
- Manage clients, investors, advisers, and other transaction stakeholders.
- Support business development and originate new mandates.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the growth of the M&A platform.
- Execute transactions across sectors including financial services, fintech, infrastructure, energy, industrials, and natural resources.
Requirements
- 8–15 years of investment banking or corporate finance experience.
- Strong track record executing African M&A and capital-raising transactions.
- CA(SA), CFA, or equivalent finance qualification preferred.
- Advanced financial modelling, valuation, and transaction structuring skills.
- Excellent client management and communication skills.
- Commercially minded, entrepreneurial, and comfortable in a lean environment.
- Johannesburg-based or willing to relocate.
