The opportunity
Our client is an established African investment manager seeking a senior infrastructure investment professional to lead its private markets equity strategy. The role will take responsibility for originating, structuring, and executing infrastructure investments while leading the growth of the equity team.
Responsibilities
- Originate and lead infrastructure equity investment opportunities.
- Develop investment theses and manage transactions from screening through closing.
- Lead commercial, financial, legal, and technical due diligence.
- Structure investments, negotiate terms, and present recommendations to investment committees.
- Manage relationships with co-investors, lenders, advisers, management teams, and institutional stakeholders.
- Oversee portfolio performance and support value creation across investee companies.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the equity investment team.
- Contribute to the expansion of the platform across Southern Africa and wider African markets.
Requirements
- Significant experience in infrastructure equity investing, private equity, or investment banking.
- Strong track record originating, structuring, and closing infrastructure transactions.
- Experience across renewable energy, digital infrastructure, water, social infrastructure, or related real assets.
- Strong financial modelling, valuation, and transaction execution skills.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Strong senior-level client, investor, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Commercial, strategic, and entrepreneurial approach.
