The opportunity
Our client is a leading investment advisory firm focused on emerging and underserved markets, seeking a Managing Director based in Lagos. The role will lead a team of investment professionals, drive new business, and oversee complex transaction advisory engagements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the investment advisory team, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
- Drive business development across private sector, government, and donor-funded opportunities.
- Lead transaction advisory mandates from opportunity identification through execution.
- Oversee financial modelling, valuation, due diligence, and transaction structuring.
- Manage relationships with investors, DFIs, corporates, and other key stakeholders.
- Oversee the unit’s P&L, strategic direction, and client relationships.
- Represent the business externally and contribute to regional thought leadership.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience across strategy consulting, investment advisory, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or development finance.
- Strong track record in transaction advisory, business development, and client management.
- Established network across investors, corporates, regulators, and government stakeholders in Nigeria.
- Experience leading teams, managing P&L, and setting strategic direction.
- Experience with fundraising and complex investment or financing transactions.
- Strong understanding of emerging markets, particularly Africa.
- MBA, MSc, or equivalent qualification preferred.
