The opportunity
Our client is a leading investment advisory firm focused on Africa, seeking an M&A Director based in Nairobi. The role will lead business development and transaction execution across East Africa while helping build and develop the local team and office.
Responsibilities
- Drive business development and originate new M&A and corporate finance opportunities across East Africa.
- Build relationships with financial institutions, family offices, corporates, and other investors.
- Lead transaction execution across the full lifecycle, including pitches, financial modelling, valuation, due diligence, and negotiations.
- Manage client and counterparty relationships and coordinate with legal counsel and international teams.
- Lead, mentor, and develop junior team members.
- Support the growth and strategic development of the Nairobi office and East Africa platform.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in corporate finance, M&A, investment, or financing structuring, ideally focused on Africa.
- Experience in an M&A advisory firm, private equity/debt fund, bank, or development finance institution.
- Strong transaction execution, financial modelling, and valuation skills.
- Proven business development and relationship management capabilities.
- Experience managing and developing teams; team-building experience is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge and network across East Africa preferred.
- Master's degree in finance, economics, business, engineering, or a related field.
- Fluent English; French is a plus.
