The opportunity
Our client is a leading renewable energy company looking to recruit a Legal Advisor based in Cape Town. The role will support multidisciplinary teams across wind and solar projects, including IPP developments, M&A, project finance, and operations.
Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate commercial, project, land, EPC, O&M, JV, and shareholder agreements.
- Support renewable project tenders, development, implementation, and transactions.
- Provide legal advice and assess regulatory developments affecting the business.
- Manage external counsel and support litigation matters where required.
- Prepare legal memos, approvals, reporting, and internal guidance.
- Support corporate governance and legal entity management.
- Contribute to contract standardisation, legal policies, and training for business teams.
Requirements
- LLB or BCom Law.
- 5–6+ years of legal experience, including 4+ years supporting projects, M&A, or operations.
- Strong experience in South African renewable energy, IPP, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
- Project finance experience preferred.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and commercial judgement.
- Able to work autonomously in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
- Excellent English communication skills.
