The opportunity
Our client is a global development-focused investment institution seeking an Investment Director to lead complex infrastructure and climate equity investments across Africa and South Asia. The role covers origination, transaction execution, portfolio management, and team leadership across essential infrastructure and climate-related sectors.
Responsibilities
- Originate and develop new equity, fund, and co-investment opportunities.
- Lead investment screening, due diligence, structuring, negotiations, and execution.
- Oversee financial modelling, valuation, investment analysis, and Investment Committee materials.
- Manage portfolio investments, including risk monitoring and value creation.
- Build relationships with funds, investors, DFIs, clients, and advisers.
- Lead and mentor deal teams and support broader investment strategy.
Requirements
- Significant direct investing experience in private equity, investment funds, DFIs, or similar institutions.
- Strong track record across the full investment lifecycle, from origination through portfolio management.
- Experience investing in infrastructure, regulated assets, transport, logistics, energy, or climate-related sectors.
- Strong Africa and/or South Asia investment experience, ideally with an established regional network.
- Excellent valuation, financial modelling, structuring, and commercial judgement skills.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Relevant degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field; CFA, MBA, ACA, or equivalent advantageous.
- Additional languages such as French or Portuguese are a plus.
