The opportunity
Our client is a global energy company accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy and is seeking a senior HR leader based in Johannesburg. The role will align global HR priorities with local business needs, lead the HR function, and support organisational transformation and a high-performance culture.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the South African HR strategy in line with global priorities.
- Partner with senior leadership on business strategy, transformation, talent, and organisational development.
- Lead HR Business Partnering, employee relations, and HR operations teams.
- Oversee employee and labour relations, ensuring compliance with local employment legislation.
- Use HR analytics, digital tools, and data to improve decision-making and HR effectiveness.
- Drive organisational change, employee engagement, and a performance-oriented culture.
- Support ethics, compliance, and governance initiatives across the business.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- 10+ years of HR experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience in multinational, matrixed organisations, ideally within energy, utilities, or industry.
- Strong knowledge of South African labour law and employee relations.
- Experience leading organisational transformation and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong HR analytics and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent English.
