The opportunity
Our client is a growing international business operating across emerging markets and is seeking a Financial Accountant based in Cape Town. The role will oversee end-to-end accounting and reporting, supporting accurate financial management, compliance, and audit processes.
Responsibilities
- Manage monthly and quarterly close processes, financial statements, and general ledger activities.
- Prepare consolidated accounts and IFRS financial statements.
- Manage reconciliations, AR/AP, invoicing, payment runs, and the fixed asset register.
- Prepare and review tax returns and local statutory submissions.
- Oversee in-country accounting teams and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Coordinate annual audits and work closely with external auditors.
- Support new entity setup, banking, payroll, and other finance operations.
- Maintain accurate transaction recording and coding within Sage X3.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA (K) or ACCA qualification.
- 3–4 years of post-qualification experience.
- Strong financial reporting, accounting, and IFRS knowledge.
- Experience with tax, audits, reconciliations, and consolidated accounts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced and changing environment.
