The opportunity
Our client is an international investment platform seeking an ESG Manager based in Kuala Lumpur. The role will support ESG integration across the investment lifecycle, working with internal teams, project companies, external advisers, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental and social due diligence for potential investments.
- Coordinate environmental and social impact assessments and specialist studies during project development.
- Monitor ESG compliance with internal policies, IFC Performance Standards, and lender requirements.
- Conduct project site audits, identify risks, and oversee corrective action plans.
- Review ESG and impact data and contribute to investor reporting.
- Support community development programmes and ESG strategy initiatives.
- Develop ESG guidance and deliver training to internal teams and project companies.
- Maintain ESG documentation, action plans, and compliance trackers.
Requirements
- Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Development Studies, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in ESG, sustainability, environmental and social management, or impact investing.
- Experience in renewable energy, biofuels, water, wastewater, or waste infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of environmental and social risks, IFC Performance Standards, and lender ESG requirements.
- Excellent reporting, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills and fluent English; Malay proficiency is advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills, integrity, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Willingness to travel to regional offices and project sites as required.
