The opportunity
Our client is a renewable energy developer seeking a Country Manager to drive its expansion in Zambia, focusing on commercial and industrial clients in the mining and manufacturing sectors. The role will focus on developing solar PV and battery energy storage projects of 5 MW and above.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the country strategy and build a pipeline of investment opportunities.
- Establish relationships with senior decision-makers across mining, manufacturing, and energy sectors.
- Originate and negotiate commercial energy deals, including long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).
- Structure commercial proposals and financial models for solar and storage solutions.
- Identify local development partners and coordinate with technical, finance, and legal teams.
- Monitor market developments, regulations, and the competitive landscape.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- 10+ years of business development or commercial experience in the energy, power, mining, or manufacturing sectors.
- Proven track record of originating and closing large-scale commercial energy deals, ideally 5 MW+.
- Established network across Zambia's mining, manufacturing, and energy sectors.
- Strong understanding of solar PV, battery storage, PPAs, and commercial deal structuring.
- Strong financial modelling, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
